Reflecting on past years…

From the desk of Nutrition Manager: Happy 2024 to all!

I believe that everyone who newly immigrated to Canada should work in simple jobs to truly understand the essence of this country—a place of peace and rich culture. My early years as a young immigrant in Canada were filled with work and studies, leaving little time for rest. Despite its challenges, the experience was incredibly educational, and I wouldn't change a thing. I learned so much from those who had been in Canada before me—lessons in customer skills, cultural diversity, and the beauty of Mississauga, a great city. My first job at Maxie’s Deli in the Westdale Mall, the oldest mall in Mississauga, was a pivotal experience. The Jewish owners, particularly Max, became my invaluable mentors. Max's patience and thorough training left a lasting impression on me, covering everything from essential tasks like floor mopping, safe lifting techniques, and sanitation standards to customer interaction, handling complaints, and business promotion. Max's guidance was not just about making the perfect Reuben sandwich; it also shaped my approach to life, teaching me to treat others with respect, empathy, and a positive attitude. I am grateful for his invaluable lessons that extended beyond the realm of foodservice and set me on a path to success. Max's daily quote was ..." All it takes is a genuine and warm smile to effortlessly correct an error and uplift someone's day."
Thank you, Max, for teaching me indispensable principles that extend far beyond the culinary world.
